KING'S BASKETBALL GAMES SATURDAY AT MANHATTANVILLE MOVED TO SUNDAY

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College men's and women's basketball teams trip to Purchase, N.Y. to face Freedom Conference rival Manhattanville College will have to wait one more day as the doubleheader has been pushed back to Sunday in anticipation of the snowfall expected Saturday throughout the region.

The women's game will tip off at 1:00 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 3:00 p.m.

Both King's teams would benefit greatly from securing road victories as each squad dropped razor-thin losses at home to conference foe Misericordia Wednesday night.   King's women fell 62-61 when the Cougars took their only lead of the game with 2.3 second left. The Monarch men, meanwhile, dropped a heartbreaking 91-88 overtime verdict.

King's women enter the game with a 10-6 overall record while standing 3-2 in league play. Manhattanville is 11-4 and 3-2 in conference games after downing Eastern 80-65 at home Wednesday night.  

Senior forward Jennifer Fabian tops King's with 13.5 points and 8.2 rebounds with 16 three-pointers. Junior small-forward Kayla Feairheller follows with 10.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and a team-high 28 three-pointers. Senior forward Tara Zdancewicz adds 7.1 points and 3.9 rebounds while junior point-guard Kasey Seitz contributes 6.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists with 19 three-pointers.

Sophomore center Olivia Hoffman has tallied 6.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 55 blocked shots while freshman guard Cayle Spencer has registered 4.4 points with 15 treys.  Senior guard Sara Krupinski chips in with 3.8 points, 2.7 rebids, and 3.0 assists. Freshman guard Alexis Steeber has netted 3.6 points with 2.6 boards. The Lady Monarchs average 61.5 points while giving up 57.3 each game.

Manhattanville is paced by Bri Pabon with 12.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 22 three-pointers. Ashley Raaf follows with 12.1 points and 4.7 rebounds. Ashley Franklin chips in with 11.0 points and 6.3 boards. The Valiants average 65.4 points while allowing 59.2 each contest.

King's men enter the matchup at 8-8 overall and 2-3 in the Freedom Conference while Manhattanville is 9-7 and 2-3.

Senior center Tom Heston tops the squad with 11.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per-game. Junior forward Dan Rutecki follows with 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. Junior guard John Fazzini adds 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 20 three-pointers while sophomore forward Chris Fazzini contributes 10.6 points and 3.2 boards.

Nate Oliver has posted 8.7 points with 25 three-pointers while freshman guard Jake Barber posts 7.9 points and 2.3 rebounds. Senior guard Connor Hughes chips in with 6.9 points and 3.6 rebounds. King's averages 74.7 points each game while yielding 70.5.

Topping Manhattanville is Anthony Maestre with 21.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 37 three-pointers. Juan Camacho follows with 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds while Alex Tuci adds 11.9 points with 7.8 boards. The Valiants average 77.06 points while allowing 77.19 each game.

After the games on Sunday both King's teams will return to Scandlon Gym to host cross-town rival Wilkes University in a Wednesday doubleheader at 6 and 8 p.m.
