MEDFORD - Senior tri-captain Hannah Foley scored the 1,000th point of her Tufts career while the Jumbo women's basketball team earned a 66-40 victory over Rhode Island College in the final non-conference game of the season Tuesday night at Cousens Gym.

Sophomore Michela North led Tufts with 17 points on 8 for 11 shooting while Tufts improved to 19-1 overall. Foley added 11 points, including her 1,000th on a three-pointer at the 10-minute mark of the first half. The win was the 11th in a row for the Jumbos.
Rhode Island College lost its third straight, dropping to 6-14. The Anchorwomen were led by 10 points each from junior Devin Hill and sophomore Alex Moore.
The Jumbos scored the first seven points of the game and led 14-3 early. Five Jumbos scored points in the opening seven minutes including five by North. Tufts would never trail in the contest.
After Hill's lay-up for RIC made it 14-5, Foley's 1,000th on a three gave Tufts a double-figure lead for the rest of the night. The margin touched 16 points four times in the first half, including 28-12 on another three by Foley at 6:29.
The Anchorwomen scored the next six pionts, four by first-year Jess Korzec, to pull within 10 at 28-18 with 4:19 to go until halftime. However, Tufts closed the half with a 7-2 run to lead 35-20 at the break.
North had 11 points, Foley had nine and junior Emma Roberson had seven at the half for Tufts, which shot 53.6 percent (15/28) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. Foley also had five rebounds. Moore's eight points led the Anchorwomen at intermission.
Rhode Island College would get no closer than 15 points (39-24) after a lay-up by junior Michelle Lagrotteria at 17:38 of the second half. The Jumbos would push their lead to as many as 30 points, 62-32, on a jumper by junior Nicole Brooks at 4:05.
The Jumbos dominated in the paint with North, out-scoring the visitors 18-4 there in the opening half and 34-16 overall. Tufts picked up 10 second-chance points in the second half when they collected 12 offensive rebounds.
Foley finished her milestone night with eight rebounds, four assists and two steals. The Jumbos had 21 assists on 26 baskets, including five by 6-2 center Hayley Kanner. First-year Melissa Baptista had eight points and four rebounds while junior Hannah Artner blocked two shots.
Lagrotteria had a solid all-around game for RIC with nine points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. Moore passed out four assists.
The Jumbos hit the road for NESCAC action at Hamilton College Friday night. RIC next plays a Little East game Saturday at Keene State.
