Arlington, Va. – After downing Albright in the opening round, the Saints went on to claim the 2014 Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament crown – defeating Delaware Valley in the title game on Sunday evening.

The opener proved a classic point-for-point parley.  The squads knotted the score eight different times and saw 15 lead changes transpire over the course of the contest.

The Saints closed the first half with a 6-0 run to ride a narrow 31-29 margin into the break.

The second half saw the Lions regain the lead and hold it until only 4:31 remained on the clock.  A 10-0 run, capped by a Leah Hurst jumper, gave Marymount the 54-53 advantage – if only for the briefest moment.

An ensuing drive and layup from Albright saw the lead change hands yet again, but it was senior Dominique Dickens' three-point play that put the Blue and White on top for good.

Six free throws – courtesy of Samantha Kane and Kievanna Lacey – capped the Saints' scoring effort in the opener as they rolled to the 65-60 win.

Dickens commanded the Marymount offense quite aptly over the course of the contest, dropping 21 points while also hauling in nine boards.  Three other Saints – Lacey, Miranda Krott, and Kiki Laux – each chipped in ten points apiece, with Krott rounding out her first double-double of the season with a team-high 11 rebounds.

With the semifinal win secured, Marymount advanced to face Delaware Valley in the title game on Sunday night – the last of eight games hosted at the Saints' Verizon Sports Arena this weekend.

The first half saw the Saints jump out to a commanding lead – courtesy of a 15-0 run and the 26-13 cushion that resulted.  While the Aggies chipped away here and there, the visitors could not solve the 13-point deficit as Marymount towed a 34-21 lead into the break.

The second half saw the spacious point-for-point volley continue until Delaware Valley finally cracked the Saints' defense for a couple extra tallies – narrowing the deficit to a mere five points at the 7:46 mark.

With the title on the line, the Blue and White reset and completely shut down the Aggies, never allowing the soon-to-be runner-up to crack that five-point margin.  The Saints would hoist the tournament crown as the 57-49 victory was penned into the scorebooks.

It was Lacey who lead the squad in the championship game, pouring in a game-high 15 points.  Krott continued her dominance under the hoop, notching her second double-double of both the weekend and the season with her 11 points and game-high 16 rebounds in the finale.

Hurst chipped in ten points to round out the Saints' championship effort.

Lacey earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team after her impressive performance in the title game.  Krott left no question as to who would receive Tournament MVP accolades, as her two double-doubles punctuated the weekend with an exclamation point of sorts.

With two untarnished wins to its record, Marymount returns to the court on Wednesday when it hosts Randolph-Macon in a 6 p.m. nonconference tilt.
