The women's basketball team scored the first seven points en route to a 56-38 CUNYAC home victory over the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on Monday night in the ARC Arena.
The defense was a major factor again as the Bulldogs were limited to 20.3 percent shooting (15-for-74).
Iyana Abrams scored 12 of her career-high 18 points in the first half and Francess Henry tied her career-high for the fourth time this season with 10 rebounds to help the Bearcats (15-6, 11-2 CUNYAC) to the home victory.
Alicea Ulmer almost notched a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Bulldogs (15-6, 8-4 CUNYAC) did manage to get as close as 13-12 with 8:20 left in the first half, but after a timeout, the Bearcats responded by scoring the next nine points to control the game the rest of the way.
Nacirema Mann led the visitors with a double-double of 14 points and rebounds each.
The Bearcats team will return to action on Thursday, February 6, at the Ninth Annual Battle of Lexington Basketball Doubleheader and Senior Night.
The women will tip off at 5:30 pm against the Lightning of Lehman College.
