The Millikin women's basketball team lost at Elmhurst College 76-63 on Jan. 11 in Elmhurst, Ill.
Elmhurst led the entire game building a 43-27 advantage at the half. The Bluejays built an advantage as large as 23 points in the second half before Millikin fought its way back into the game. For the third straight game Millikin outscored its opponent in the second half (36-33), but were unable to overcome the large first half deficit.
Elmhurst shot 40 percent from the field while Millikin shot 34.5 percent. The Bluejays out rebounded Millikin 39-37. Millikin committed 22 turnovers.
Brittany Czaplicki led Millikin in scoring with 24 points with Alyssa Saklak adding 18 points. Jasmine Johnson had a team high seven rebounds.
Elmhurst had four players score in double figures led by Karen Senette with 18 points. Fiona McMahan scored 12 points and had a team high nine rebounds.
Millikin falls to 6-8, 0-3 while Elmhurst improves to 9-5, 1-2.
The Big Blue travel to Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday, Jan. 15 for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
