Hornet Women Score Big ODAC Win 76-74 over Randolph-Macon

LYNCHBURG, VA – Junior Shannon Allan scored a team-high 23 points as the Lynchburg College women's basketball team scored a 76-74 upset of Randolph-Macon College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

Conference-leading R-MC led 38-37 at intermission, and pulled ahead by 10 points midway through the second half. A 9-0 LC run behind seven points from Allan got the Hornets within one, and the game was tight the rest of the way. Taylor Huber hit a pair of free throws for R-MC to tie the score at 66 all with three minutes left on the game clock.

Ann Dorris and Allan scored back-to-back buckets to give Lynchburg a four-point lead, and LC iced the game from the free-throw stripe. Allan made a pair of important free throws with 1.3 seconds left to put LC ahead five, so Huber's successful heave from beyond midcourt at the buzzer did not force overtime.

Allan added five rebounds, three assists and two blocks, while Chaney Forbush posted 18 points, 10 rebounds and three rejections. The sophomore forward made seven of her eight attempts from the floor. Lauren Penley tied Forbush for game-high rebound honors with 10 and added five points.

Huber finished with a game-high 32 points for R-MC (10-3/3-1 ODAC), nailing five three pointers. Khajae Cortina had 12 points and Katie Anderson tallied seven points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The Hornets (6-7/3-1 ODAC) travel to Washington & Lee University for another ODAC game Wednesday 5:30 p.m.
