Blue Devils unable to slow down Warhawk defense, fall 85-50

WHITEWATER (December 7, 2013) - Sami Schoeder (Sr, Durand) scored 18 points and collected nine rebounds but the Blue Devils were unable to overcome 27 turnovers, and a hot shooting Warhawk team.  Whitewater shot 45.7 percent from the field on their way to an 85-50 victory over Stout. 

The game was close through much of the first half until Whitewater scored 11 of the last 13 points in the period, to take a 39-25 lead into the break.  Schoeder scored 11 of her 18 points in the first half to keep Stout within striking range.  Whitewater shot 44.4 percent in the first half compared to 36.7 percent for Stout. 

The second half was all Whitewater as the lead grew to 39.  Abbie Reeves scored 10 of her team high 17 points in the second half, to help ice the game for the Warhawks.  Mary Merg added 16 points and five rebounds.  Kaitlyn Thill had a game high 10 rebounds for Whitewater. 

Katelynne Folkers (Jr, Fall Creek) scored seven points and collected six rebounds for Stout.

Up next, Stout will host UW-River Falls Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7 pm.  The Blue Devils will then be off until Tuesday, Dec. 31 when they travel to the Colorado College tournament
