Vassar - 77, Farmingdale State - 64
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team fell, 77-64, in a non-conference game at Vassar last night in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Rams dropped to 6-8, while the Brewers improved to 12-3 on the year.
Junior guard Cydni Matsuoka (Sacramento, Cal.) led Vassar with 18 first half points on 6-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range as the Brewers held a 47-25 halftime lead.
Trailing 60-35 with 16:06 remaining, a 12-2 Farmingdale State run over the next 7:09 cut the deficit to 62-47. Vassar, who shot 48% from the field in the game, held a double-digit lead the rest of the way to earn the 77-64 win.
The Rams were led by senior guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt, N.Y.) who had 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting and junior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) who tallied 17 points, six rebounds and four steals.
Matsuoka led all scorers with a season-high 28 points (11-for-12), while sophomore guard Nyah Berg (Sudbury, Mass.) had 18 points in the victory.
Farmingdale State next will travel to Old Westbury for a Skyline Conference game on Thursday, January 24th at 5:00 p.m.
