LA CROSSE (January 16, 2013) - A poor shooting night from the field ultimately doomed the UW-Stout women's basketball team, as they shot only 26% in the second half and 29% overall in a 69-56 loss to UW-La Crosse.

The Blue Devils got out to an early lead, going ahead 1-0 on a Brea Boomer (So, Grand Portage, Minn.) free throw less than a minute into the game, but the Eagles went on a 15-0 scoring run to build a comfortable lead mid-way through the half.

Late in the half, Stout put together a 7-1 scoring run of their own, cutting the deficit to only two as they trailed 23-25 at the half.

Three unanswered points in the first two minutes of the second half once again put the Blue Devils up by one, before La Crosse went on a 14-4 run over a three minute stretch to push the lead back to nine.

A 10-0 run by Stout, including five from Katelynne Folkers (So, Fall Creek), brought the Blue Devils right back into the game, tying the score at 42 with less than 12 minutes to go.

Stout would get no closer though, and La Crosse promptly retook the lead and held it for the remainder of the game, going up by as many as 16 on their way to the victory.

Shelby Sterba (So, Tony) narrowly missed out on a double-double for Stout, finishing with nine points and nine rebounds, five offensive.

Boomer and Kayla Windt (Sr, Pence) led the way for the Blue Devils with 13 points apiece. Windt went just 3-7 from the filed, but 7-8 from the foul line. She also grabbed seven rebounds, five offensive. Boomer added five rebounds of her own, including four on the offensive end.

Folkers finished with 10 points on 4-9 shooting, including 1-1 from beyond the arc.
