UMHB women fall to Mississippi College

Clinton, MS – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team could not overcome a cold shooting night and a rash of turnovers in a 70-39 loss to Mississippi College Saturday night in Clinton, Mississippi. The loss drops the UMHB women to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in American Southwest Conference play on the season. The Choctaws improve to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the ASC with the victory.

The Cru grabbed an early 6-5 lead, but then surrendered a 7-0 run and never got closer than three points the rest of the way. The Choctaws led by as many as 17 points in the first half before settling for a 32-18 halftime lead. UMHB battled back to within 11 points early in the second half, but MC pulled away from there to coast to the victory.

Macy Moore led the Cru with 11 points. Taylor Tucker added nine points and nine rebounds. UMHB turned the ball over 29 times and shot just 1-15 from three-point range. The Cru hit just 31 percent from the field overall.

Ebony Williams topped the Choctaws with 18 points and Caitlin Brown added 10. Ten different players scored for Mississippi College. The Choctaws scored 39 points off UMHB turnovers and also out rebounded the Cru 40-37 in the game. MC shot 50 percent from the field in the victory.

UMHB will continue its road trip with a 5:30 PM start at Louisiana College on Monday. The Cru will then return home to host U.T.-Dallas and University of the Ozarks next week.
