Titans Fall to Conference-Leader Thomas More 79-42

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team was bested by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) leaders, Thomas More Saints, 79-42. The Saints started out the game with a 9-0 run and never looked back. The Lady Titans struggled shooting in the first half and were not able to recover.

The Lady Titans fell to 7-14 overall and 7-8 in the PAC, while the Saints remained in first place with an 18-4 (14-1 PAC) record.

Westminster only scored 13 points in the first half as they shot 11% (2-for-19). In the second half, the Titans improved to shooting 48% (12-for-25) from the floor. The Lady Titans were only outscored by 12 in the second half, which helped narrow the total margin.

Eight different Titans scored in the contest led by senior Emily Montone (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) with 10 points, while shooting three of five (60%) from the floor. Everyone recorded a rebound for the Titans and sophomore Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Alvernia) grabbed a team-high six. Freshman Jenna Grandy (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) and sophomore Hannah Shaffer (Apollo, PA / Apollo-Ridge) each chipped in with nine points off the bench.

Katie Kitchen guided the Saints with 21 points and six rebounds. Devin Beasley contributed for Thomas More with 18 points.

The Titans look to rebound on Saturday as they play Chatham in the home finale (Feb. 11). Westminster will honor seniors Emily Dolsak (McDonald, OH / McDonald), Emily Montone, and Tamber Schaef (Guys Mills, PA / Maplewood).
