Nor'easters sail past Western New England 73-42 for fifth consecutive victory

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior guard Kelley Paradis (Newport, ME) and sophomore guard Lauren Rousseau (Biddeford, ME) combined for 38 points as the University of New England women's basketball team sailed past Western new England 73-42 Saturday afternoon (Jan. 21).

The Nor'easters raised their record to 12-3 overall and remained in first place in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 7-1 mark.

Paradis finished with 24 points after making 10-of-17 shots from the field, including four three-pointers. She also had three assists and three rebounds. Rousseau contributed 14 points and five rebounds.

UNE raced to a 40-20 and never looked back in winning its fifth consecutive contest.

Junior forward Beth Suggs (Bath, ME) added nine rebounds while senior point guard Kari Pelletier (South Paris, ME) dish out seven assists. The visitors made 39.7% of their field-goal attempts and made 14-of-16 foul shots for 87.5%.

Western New England managed to connect on only 31.5% of its shots from the floor and committed 22 turnovers.

Junior guard Emily Savino (Ellington, CT) netted nine points for the Golden Bears who fall to 5-4 in conference play and 6-10 overall.

Sophomore guard Justin King (Ware, MA) chipped-in with eight points coming off the bench.

Junior center Elena Radzikowski (Medway, MA) scored six points and had five rebounds. Freshman forward Sam McCann (Warren, MA) had five points and pulled down five rebounds.
