ARLINGTON, Va.--The Hood College women's basketball team (3-10, 0-6 CAC) came up short in its quest for the Blazers' first Capital Athletic Conference win of the season, falling 68-47 at Marymount University (5-9, 3-3 CAC) Saturday afternoon.

After falling behind in the early going, the Blazers clawed their way back into it in the final three minutes of the opening stanza. A Rachel Wiley jumper and a trademark trey by Emily Maerz drew the Blazers even at 22-22 with 2:01 to play in the period. Hood's momentum was quickly halted at the other end when MU's Katelyn Fischer buried a three of her own and the Blazers trailed by six at halftime (30-24).

Hood connected on just two field goals in the first 9:30 of the season half, allowing the Saint advantage to swell to 16 (44-28) with just under 12 minutes to go. Hood was unable to trim the deficit below double digits as the Saints evened their CAC record at 3-3 with the victory.

Wiley finished with her fourth "double double" of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four blocks for Hood. Dyanna Prater tallied 14 points, including three triples, while Briana Lee chipped in with 10 points and a pair of assists.

MU's Fischer led all scorers with 21 points and drained five long-range buckets.

The Blazers return to BB&T Arena Wednesday to host the York College (Pa.) Spartans at 6 p.m. in a CAC matchup.
