Brooklyn College - 69, Farmingdale State - 46
Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team dropped their season opener at non-conference opponent Brooklyn College 69-46 this evening. The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the year.
The Rams trailed 20-19 with 7:10 remaining in the first half before a 10-0 Brooklyn run over the next 2:07 extended their lead to 30-19. Farmingdale State would pull within six but went into the break trailing 41-32.
The Bulldogs started the second half on a 10-0 run and opened up a 51-32 advantage with 13:28 to play. Back to back scores by senior guard Kayla Koch (Kings Park, N.Y.) pulled the Rams within 15, but Brooklyn would eventually pull away for a 69-46 non-conference victory.
Farmingdale State was led by senior forward Natasha Smalls (Harlem, N.Y.) who scored a team-high 11 points and had six rebounds. Junior guard Jeanette Zubizarreta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) had 10 points and seven boards, while senior forward Dominique Cunningham (Amityville, N.Y.) had four steals.
Junior forward Tiffany Thompson (Bronx, N.Y.) led all scorers for Brooklyn with 16 points and added 10 rebounds. Senior forward Justine O'Callahan (Floral Park, N.Y.) tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The Rams next will face St. Vincent College at Messiah College on Friday, November 18th at 4:00 p.m.
