MADISON, Wis. -- Alverno College senior point guard Gabby Allen (Milwaukee/Bay View) became the school's all-time leading scorer in the Inferno's 65-55 victory over host Edgewood College tonight at the Todd Wehr Edgedome in Madison.

Allen needed 15 points to surpass her former teammate, Lisa Sorgi (Greenfield, Wis.), coming into tonight's Northern Athletics Conference game. Allen tied Sorgi's 1,244 career points with her 14th point of the game on a free throw at the 14:21 mark in the second half to give the Inferno (11-12, 8-9 NAC) a 38-34 lead.

Less than 3 minutes later, Hannah Galstad (Holmen, Wis.) found Allen on a post-entry which she connected on for her 16th point of the game and topped Sorgi on the all-time scoring list, and keep the Inferno ahead in the game.

"It's feels good and I'm very proud," Allen said. "I set a goal and I accomplished it. I have great teammates around me who support me, so I was very confident coming into tonight."

Allen led all scorers with 28 points on the night, and set a new career-high along the way. In 38 minutes of action she also had five rebounds, three assists, two steals and did not commit a turnover.

"The way Gabby responded to the pressure was great," Alverno head coach Brad Duckworth said. "I don't know what's more impressive; 28 points or zero turnovers. To have zero turnovers and play 38 minutes in this kind of game is unbelievable.

"And you know it's scary from a recruiting standpoint, because I keep losing them. This is 3 years in a row we're going to graduate the program's all-time leading scorer. Bre Miller (Racine, Wis./Case), Lisa Sorgi and now Gabby -- who has really been just a phenomenal scorer for us."

Alverno outshot the Eagles (13-9, 11-5) tonight, connecting on 43 percent of its attempts compared to Edgewood's 32. The Inferno also won the turnover battle committing only 15 to Edgewood's 20, and had nine blocks to just one by the Eagles.

"What a great team win," Duckworth said. "Some of the contributions from our players tonight weren't surprising, they were impressive. It was a total team effort and a really good win. It also keeps control in our court for the postseason. Our team was committed to it tonight. They know what they needed and they got it."

Shataya McComb (Kingston, N.Y.) scored 10 points and had a team-high eight rebounds to go along with three blocks and three assists in the victory. Alyssa Jensen (Cudahy, Wis.) and Alicia Kontowski (South Milwaukee, Wis.) both chipped in nine points, while Galstad had seven. Jensen also had a career-high four blocks.

The Eagles' Brittany Bylsma led three Edgewood scorers in double figures with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting.

Alverno finishes up the conference season on Wednesday at Reiman Gymnasium in Milwaukee, hosting Marian University at 7 p.m. The game is currently set to be a "win and get in" contest, with the winner advancing to the NAC tournament.
