MADISON, Wis. – On senior night at the Todd Wehr Edgedome, the Edgewood College women's basketball team fell behind Alverno College early. The Eagles made a comeback in the second half, but the Inferno, who are still trying to qualify for the conference tournament, responded with a late run and iced the 65-55 win at the free throw line down the stretch.

After Brittany Bylsma pulled the Ealges (13-9, 11-5 NAC) within two with 11:47 left in the first half, Alyssa Jensen started an Alverno run with a jump shot. Jensen followed that with a three-point basket and Shataya McComb made a pair of free throws before Gabby Allen made a jump shot. Jamie Hoernke ended the 10-0 spurt with a free throw.

Alison Tobin made a free throw and senior Shae Beckwith followed with her second three-point basket of the game, to set an Edgewood College record for three-point baskets in a career at 165. That three also helped jump start a 15-5 Eagle run. Bylsma followed Beckwith's three with a layup, and then after a pair of Tobin free throws, Melanie Walker made a three-point basket. Beckwith made a couple free throws and Tobin ended the run with a bucket to cut the deficit to 30-28 with 4:29 left in the first frame.

McComb ended the run with three-point basket and after Chelsey Watkins knocked down two free throws, Allen grabbed an offensive rebound and made a layup with two seconds left in the half to make the halftime score 35-30 in favor of Alverno (11-12, 8-9 NAC).

Allen came out in the second half and quickly put the Inferno up seven before the Eagles answered with an 8-1 run. Danielle Dixon started the spurt with a jump shot and Bylsma followed with back-to-back buckets before Beckwith tied the game at 38 with a jumper.

Tobin the Eagles their first lead since the 16:25 mark of the first half when she made two free throws to put Edgewood College up 43-42 with just under 10 minutes left. However, Allen and Jensen quickly gave the advantage back to Alverno with back-to-back buckets. Tobin cut the deficit to 46-45 with 8:30 left, but Allen started a 10-0 run for the Inferno with a jumper.

At the end of the spurt, the Inferno held a commanding 56-45 lead with 5:04 remaining. Edgewood College cut the deficit to six points twice, but Alverno made enough free throws down the stretch to seal the 65-55 victory.

In what was Beckwith's last regular season home game, she tallied 13 points, four assists and four rebounds. Bylsma set a career-high with 17 points and went 5-for-6 from the free throw line while Tobin also set a career-best, pulling down 15 rebounds. Tobin also added 14 points for her third career double-double and second this season.

For the Inferno, it was Allen that led the way with a career-high 28 points. She also became Alverno's all-time leading scorer. McComb was the only other Inferno scorer to reach double figures with 10 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds.
