Maroons Win 10th Straight; Stay Atop UAA

CHICAGO -- Taylor Simpson scored 23 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead the 13th-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team to an 81-61 University Athletic Association victory over Case Western Reserve University Friday night at the Ratner Athletics Center.

Simpson needed only one half to record her fourth straight double-double and fifth in her last six games, as she collected 17 points and 11 boards in the game's first 20 minutes.

Chicago (14-3 overall, 6-0 UAA) controlled the game from the outset. The Maroons jumped out to an 11-2 lead before closing out the first half with a 14-0 run to take a 44-20 lead at the break.

En route to their 10th consecutive victory and eighth in as many home games this season, the Maroons led by as many as 27 points in the second stanza. Case (10-7, 4-2) trimmed the deficit to 15 points, 64-49, with 7:43 remaining, but could get no closer.

Chicago's Meghan Herrick finished with 18 points as she tallied double figures for the 12th straight game.

Morgan Herrick and Bryanne Halfhill added 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Maroons. Halfhill handed out a game-high six assists.

Erin Hollinger led four Spartans in double digits with 17 points. Erica Iafelice finished with 12 points -- all on three-point field goals, while Evy Iacono and Caitlin Henry contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Chicago outshot Case 47% to 38% and held a commanding 42-24 edge on the glass.
