ARLINGTON, Va. - A steal by Marymount (Va.)'s Maame Amponsah with three seconds to go sealed a 47-42 win for the Saints over Wesley College.

The Wolverines (7-10, 2-6 CAC) trailed by three and called a timeout after a steal by Ashley Cooper (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) just six seconds earlier.  But Wesley could not get a shot off as Amponsah ended the Wolverines' upset hopes.

Amanda Billy had given Marymount (9-5, 7-1 CAC) a 45-40 lead after making three free throws, but Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford) scored on Wesley's next trip down to make it a one possession game with 1:36 to play.

Earlier in the half, the Wolverines had taken a six-point lead after a three by Allison Beddia (New Castle, Del./Delcastle) with 11:13 left made it 36-30.  It took over three minutes for either team to score before Beth Wiggins made a pair of foul shots and Sam Spencer followed with a three on the Saints' next possession to cut it to 36-25 with 7:21 left.  There was another two minute gap in the scoring before Wiggins made a go ahead lay up that made it 37-36 Marymount.  Wesley answered with a jumper by Cooper that ended a five minute scoreless drought for the Wolverines and reclaimed the lead with 5:08 on the clock.

It remained a one-point game as the teams traded buckets before a three by Spencer made it 42-40 with 3:07 to play.

Jazmine Miller (Dover, Del./Dover) scored all 11 of her points in the first half as the teams went into the break tied 21-21.

Wesley will look to snap a five-game losing streak on Saturday, January 22 when Hood visits the First State.

Wiggins and Amponsah combined for 30 points and 28 rebounds for Marymount, but the rest of the team managed only 17 points.  Wiggins led all players with 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Amponsah added 13 points and 12 boards. 

The duo shot 12-of-21 from the floor, while five teammates - including Billy, the CAC's leading scorer - were limited to just 4-of-20 on the night.

Neither team went to its bench much, using just seven players each.  In fact, three Wolverines, Miller, Beddia and Rachelle Allen (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) played all 40 minutes, as did Amponsah for Marymount.

In addition to leading Wesley with 11 points, Miller added six rebounds, six assists and five steals. 

Owens led the Wolverines with eight rebounds and despite all the boards from Wiggins and Amponsah, Wesley trailed just 32-30 on the glass in the game.

Wesley will look to snap a five-game skid when Hood visits Dover on Saturday, January 22.
