Brooklyn Falls to Ramapo, 70-49

Mahwah, NJ --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team dropped a non-conference game earlier today at the Bradley Center in Mahwah, NJ to the host Roadrunners of Ramapo College, 70-49. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 8-6 overall on the year, while the Roadrunners improve to 10-6 on the season.

After a jumper from senior Elisha Raiford made the score 7-6 in favor of Ramapo at the 16:00 mark of the first half, the Roadrunners went on a 26-7 scoring spree over the next nine minutes to take a 20-point advantage, 33-13. The Bulldogs would claw back into the game with a 21-5 run to close out the half and head into the locker room with a 38-34 deficit. Seniors Amber Gordon and Ariel Smith helped lead the run with nine and seven points, respectively.

Up by three, 46-43, with 12:41 remaining in the game, Ramapo closed out the game with a 24-6 run to take home the 70-49 victory. The Roadrunners used their stingy defense to shut down Brooklyn's offense in the second half, holding the Bulldogs to just 26.9% (7-for-26) shooting from the field in the half. Ramapo held the rebounding edge 42-32 and shot 50.9% (28-for-55) from the floor for the game.

Smith led all scorers for Brooklyn netting a game-high 20 points, to go along with five assists, five steals and four rebounds. Gordon was also in double figures for BC with 11 points coming off the bench. Raiford finished the game with eight points, while sophomore Tiayana Logan grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.

Ramapo had three players score in double digits, led by Alexa Ryan's 15 points. Ryan also grabbed six rebounds while dishing out five assists. Brittany Howes and Danielle Beam each notched 13 points. Beam also finished with 11 rebounds for the double-double.

Brooklyn is back in action this Wednesday, January 19th, as the Bulldogs will host the Lightning of Lehman College in a CUNY Athletic Conference match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
