WENHAM, Mass.--The Hood College women's basketball team (3-0) defeated the Gordon College Fighting Scots (1-2), 61-46, to capture the Gordon Tournament championship Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers, who are off to their best start since the 2001-02 season, played in their first regular season tournament championship contest since the 2004-05 campaign. According to archived records dating back 15 years, Hood earned its first regular season tourney title in program history.

Hood rallied from a seven-point first-half deficit to earn the victory. Trailing 16-9 midway through the opening half, Hood went on a 20-4 run to assume a nine-point advantage (29-20) with just 1:22 left before halftime. The Blazers headed to the locker room with a 31-23 lead.

The Blazers quickly built a double-figure lead on its first two possessions of the second period, thanks to a pair of Dyanna Prater free throws and a Briana White layup, and never looked back en route to remaining undefeated in 2010-11.

Prater matched her career-high with a game-high 17 points, hitting 5-of-10 from the field and 7-of-10 from the foul line. She also picked off a season-best six steals and dished five assists. Senior Kameran Evans finished one point shy of reaching her career-high as well with 14 points while classmate Allyson Lethbridge also tallied 14 points.

Lethbridge and White represented Hood on the all-tournament team.

The Blazers look to keep their hot streak going Tuesday when they return home to host the College of Notre Dame (Md.) Gators at 7 p.m. at the Odom Fitness Center at Fort Detrick.
