Records: SUNY Delhi (1-0) | Bard Raptors (0-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After a slow start for the Broncos, where they found themselves down 17-10, they finished the first half on a 16-8 run to go into the break up 26-25. Delhi outshot the Raptors from the field, 39.9 percent to 33.3 percent, but both teams struggled from deep in the low-scoring half.

  • Delhi had seven players grab a basket led by junior Isiah Barnes (Elmont, NY), senior Pablo Quinones (Highland Mills, NY), and sophomore Gustarling Louis (Elmont, NY), all of whom had five points. Barnes jumped right back into his form from last year, recording five rebounds, four assists, and a steal.

  • Excellent defense out of the half including steals from seniors Marven Louissaint (Brooklyn, NY) and Quinones sparked a six-point run for the Broncos. The Raptors responded with their own run and grabbed the lead back shortly into the half.

  • Bard held their lead until seven minutes were left on the clock until Louis hit two huge three-pointers off Barnes's assists to go ahead and steal the momentum.

  • After getting back in front, Delhi finished the game on a 19-10 run to close out their season opener by ten.

  • Under head coach Annan in their first game, the green and gold shot the ball effectively, finishing 48.1 percent from the field (26/54) and 44.4 percent (8/18) from deep.

  • They were led by Gustarling Louis's career-high of 19 points. Point guard Isiah Barnes had a great overall game with 16 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds, with just one turnover. While Louissaint added 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
