• The Short Story: Visiting Swarthmore used a late run to defeat the Johns Hopkins men's basketball team, 78-69, Tuesday night in a battle of unbeaten Centennial Conference teams.

How it Happened
• Hopkins led 61-53 after a Conner Delaney put-back in the paint at 6:56 but a Matt Mulvey layup sparked an 18-3 run that spanned five and a half minutes. Mulvey capped the run with a free throw to stake Swarthmore to a 74-61 lead at the 1:23-mark. Delaney answered with a driving layup to pull the Blue Jays within five but the Garnet would go 7-of-8 from the line in the final 72 seconds to secure the win.
• Delaney, senior Chid Nnake and junior Sidney Thybulle combined for 12 points in the game's opening five minutes as Hopkins jumped out to a 12-2 lead. Swarthmore answered with a 12-3 run, capped by a George Visconti three-pointer to make it a one-point game with 11:09 to play in the half. Junior Carson James answered with a three of his own, but a pair of Aidan Godfrey triples, sandwiched around a Thybulle layup, tied the game at 20 at the 7:59-mark.
• Delaney responded with a pair of free throws, followed by a deep three from senior Ethan Bartlett as the shot clock expired and Hopkins led 25-20. Swarthmore answered with seven straight points to grab the lead at 27-20 with 2:34 left. James and Delaney then sandwiched three-pointers around a Conor Harkins' triple and the Jays' led by one. Godfrey had the final say of the half, scoring on a driving layup to send Swarthmore into the half with a 32-31 lead.
• The Garnet pushed their lead to five early in the second with four straight free throws. Senior Tom Quarry responded with five points in a 21-second span to tie the game at 36. The teams then traded scores over the ensuing five minutes and Hopkins led 48-47. Back-to-back threes from Delaney and senior Braeden Johnson put JHU on top 54-47, but again Swarthmore answered, cutting the lead to one less than two minutes later. The Blue Jays answered with a run of their own, scoring seven straight to push out to that 61-53 lead.
