BALTIMORE, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team dropped its midweek matchup, 72-52, with 14th-ranked Johns Hopkins, thanks to a second-half comeback by the Blue Jays.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both offenses got off to a slow start with the game tied at seven after the first five minutes of the contest. Gary Briddell drilled a three-pointer to make Salisbury the first to 10.
  • A few minutes later, with the game knotted again at 18-18, Sean Carr made a short jump shot to give the Sea Gulls the lead. Carr's jumper helped the Sea Gulls get out on an 11-2 run to take a 27-20 lead with just under eight minutes left in the first half.
  • Johns Hopkins cut the Salisbury lead to within four, 28-24, with five minutes left in the half but Salisbury took a 38-31 advantage into halftime.
  • Salisbury saw its lead evaporate in the second half, thanks to sharp shooting from Connor Delaney. Delaney scored 21 points in the half to help Hopkins come back and take the win

JOHNS HOPKINS GAME NOTES

  • The Blue Jays held the shooting advantage, shooting 41.9 percent from the field (26-62) compared to Salisbury's 33.3 percent (19-57).
  • Connor Delaney finished with 37 points, six boards, four assists, and four steals.
  • Tom Quarry scored 15 points and had six rebounds.

  • Salisbury travels to Dover, Del. on Friday, Nov. 12 to face off with Division I Delaware State in an exhibition contest.
  • The Route 13 matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. tipoff at Memorial Hall.
