BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Jan. 22, 2017)  Host Birmingham-Southern made 70 percent of its three-point attempts while limiting the Sewanee men's basketball team to a 6-for-21 outside effort en route to an 80-68 win, Sunday, inside Bill Battle Coliseum.

The Tigers led only once after Leo Born hit a three on Sewanee's second possession of the game. BSC never trailed again.

A 9-2 run midway through the first half by BSC gave the Panthers a 10-point advantage, 32-22. Sewanee answered back with an old fashion three-point play from freshman Adrian Thomas. Eventually, Thomas sparked a 10-4 Sewanee run over the final 2:42 of the first half. That allowed Sewanee to trail by only three, 40-37, at halftime.

In the final 20 minutes, Sewanee made multiple attempts to pull ahead or even with BSC, however, the Panthers answered back each time.

Overall, Sewanee made 43.6 percent of its attempts. The Panthers made a staggering 60.4 percent of their attempts while outrebounding Sewanee 32-27. That helped BSC hold a 44-26 advantage in points in the paint.

Individually, Born led the Tigers with 17 points. Thomas added 12 points while Brody Stone finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.

BSC forward Harrison Deneka led the Panthers with a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Sewanee, who is now 4-3 in the SAA, welcomes Millsaps to Juhan Gymnasium Friday evening for an 8:00 p.m., contest.
