BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team held on for the 80-68 win at home in Bill Battle Coliseum against Southern Athletic Association rival Sewanee Sunday afternoon. The win put the Panthers in a tie for first in the league with Centre College. BSC is now 9-9 overall on the year, 5-2 in SAA play.
Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) finished with a game and season-high 24 points and team-high 10 rebounds. He went 10-for-18 from the floor and 4-for-5 from three-point range. Ian Thom (Cold Spring, N.Y./Croton-Harmon HS) earned 11 points of his own.
The Panthers hit the road next in rematches of this weekend. They fight for first place against Centre on Friday, Jan. 27 and then head to face Sewanee on Sunday, Jan. 29. Both days are doubleheaders with the women's team.
