POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's basketball team defeated the Potsdam Bears 86-76 on Saturday evening in the second of back-to-back SUNYAC contests during the weekend. After defeating Plattsburgh and Potsdam, the Lakers improve to 11-4 overall and 7-1 in the conference.

Oswego and Potsdam started off this contest playing close throughout the first half. Both sides went back and forth scoring, before the Bears were able to grab a four-point 39-35 lead after the opening 20 minutes.

Coming out of the break, the Lakers opened up a 16-point lead after going on a 34-14 run. Oswego began to find its stroke and sink its shots, bringing its game field goal percentage to a very respectable 50 percent (32-for-64).

Four Lakers scored in double figures led by Brian Sortino's 22. After notching a double-double on Friday, the senior guard added a couple of assists and rebounds each. Backcourt partner Ian Schupp tallied 17 points on 5-for-7 (71.4%) shooting from the field, including nailing a couple step back jumpers from the free throw line in the closing minutes.

Keith Tyson turned in a spectacular performance, nearly recording a perfect game from the field. The senior forward shot 7-for-8 (87.5%) from the field, while adding a 3-pointer. He also led the team in rebounding with eight.

Off the bench, Jamir Ferebee led the scoring with 13 points. He cleared three caroms and earned an assist. With big man Mykelle Krecko playing a reserved role, Tyler Pierre and Vic Clervil picked up the slack. Krecko still managed four points and three boards in his time on court. Meanwhile, Pierre and Clervil went an unscathed 7-for-7 from the field, totaling 14 points. They also combined for eight boards.

Oswego will make the midweek long haul to New Paltz next, for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Tuesday with the Hawks.
