The Baruch College Bearcats (11-9, 7-4 CUNYAC) suffered a 98-83 CUNYAC loss to the Cougars of Medgar Evers College (8-12, 5-6 CUNYAC) on Saturday night in the ARC Arena.
Matthew Lee scored a career-high 50 points for the visiting Cougars on 17-of-22 from the field, 5-of-6 from three, and 11-of-12 from the free throw line for one of the best visiting player performances in the history of the ARC Arena.
The visiting Cougars led from start to finish and fended off several second-half rallies by the Bearcats to seal the road win.
The Bearcats did manage to get as close as 73-69 on a three by Chimaechi Ekekeughbor with 8:50 left, but Lee scored the next seven points during the next minute to build the lead back up to 80-69 to preserve the win.
The Cougars shot a torrid 56 percent (35-for-63), mostly on the back of Lee's performance, and connected on 21-for-25 as a team from the charity stripe.
The Bearcats connected on nine total threes and kept the game within reach until the latter stages of the second half.
Ekekeugbor led five players in double-figures for Baruch with 18 points (6-for-9 fg), while Raymond De La Cruz and Doyin Isaac finished with 13 each.
