Ohio Northern opens its 2014-15 season with a 71-67 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) in All-Engineers Classic

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Senior Isaiah Roux scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball to a 71-67 season opening victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) in the opening game of the All-Engineers Classic hosted by the Milwaukee (Wis.) School of Engineering.

The Polar Bears (1-0 overall) will now play either MSOE or Illinois Tech for the tournament championship Sunday at 4:15 pm (CST).

The Stags fall to 0-1.

Sophomore Konnor Baker scored 17 points and senior Jordan Martin added 10 points for ONU.

CMS was led by Tyler Gaffney with 21 points.

Ohio Northern went on a 21-6 run to end the first half and the beginning of the second half to take a 48-32 lead with 14:41 remaining to play.

The Stags climbed back into the game and pulled within 69-67, but sophomore Devon Allen nailed two free throws with 15 seconds to play to ice the game.

ONU made 22-of-56 field goals for 39.3percent, while CMS made 22-of-51 field goals for 43.1 percent.

Claremont out-rebounded ONU 38-34 despite a game-high nine rebounds by sophomore Alex Radkiewicz.
