DOVER, Del. – David Langan scored seven points and blocked a pair of shots in the final 80 seconds to secure ninth-ranked Wesley College's men's basketball team a 78-70 Capital Athletic Conference victory over Marymount (Va.) on Wednesday night at Wentworth Gymnasium.  The Wolverines (16-1, 8-1 CAC) have now won 11-straight games which matches a program-record (2012-13) while the Saints fall to 12-6 overall and 5-5 in league play.

With a 71-70 lead after AJ Tilghman's layup with 1:42 remaining, Langan blocked a shot attempt from his center counterpart Reed Scott, grabbed the rebound and called a timeout as he was falling out of bounds.  Langan then made two-straight buckets in the paint, blocked another shot from Jesse Konadu, grabbed the rebound and was immediately fouled, bringing a capacity crowd to their feet and sealing the win.

A senior from Sayreville, N.J., Langan finished with game-highs in points (19), rebounds (14) and blocked shots (3) while sinking 9-of-11 shots from the charity stripe. Seventeen of his points came in the second half as did all of his free throws and blocked shots.

Four other Wesley players scored in double figures as Eric Selby tallied 14 points along with six assists and Tilghman added 13 points off the bench.  Brandin Youngblood was the go-to guy in the first half as nine of his 11 came in the opening period and Quincy Pettiford registered ten points.

In a very evenly matched game, both teams scored exactly as many points in the second half as they did in the first half with Wesley leading 39-35 at the break.  The Wolverines at one point had a ten point lead at 35-25 with 4:02 left in the first half when Selby led the Navy & White on a 13-1 run that last three minutes and 14 seconds.

The second half saw four ties and six lead changes with Marymount's final lead coming just before Tilghman's layup with just over 100 seconds remaining in regulation. The Wolverines outshot Marymount 48.3% to 42.9% and turned 16 turnovers into 19 points.  Wesley also outscored the Saints, 42-20 in the paint and 10-0 in transition.

Four Saints finished in double figures, led by Scott's 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Wesley returns to action on Saturday, February 1, when it hosts Frostburg State in a 3 pm start.
