GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Arron Goodman scored 31 points to lead Gwynedd Mercy to a 75-55 victory over the Centenary College men's basketball team in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night.

Goodman scored 17 of his points during the first 20 minutes as GMU (11-4, 7-1 CSAC) grabbed a 16-point halftime lead.

Freshman forward Paul Jones (Ewing, N.J./Trenton) recorded the first double-double of his career with 15 points (6-13 FG) and 12 rebounds to pace the Cyclones (2-12, 1-6 CSAC).

The Griffins used a 10-0 run to take an early lead and Goodman's layup with 31 seconds remaining gave GMU its largest lead of the half at 38-22.

Colin Gates' tripled handed the Griffins a 26-point edge with 16:16 to play, but the Cyclones steadily chipped away at the deficit. Trailing by 21 at the 7:07 mark, senior forward Joshua Case (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) started a 12-0 surge with a pair of free throws.

Centenary held Gwynedd Mercy scoreless for 5:00, cutting the lead to nine following Jones' layup with just over four minutes to play.

However, the Cyclones were limited to just one point during the remainder of the game and Goodman's fast-break dunk changed the momentum as GMU held on for the victory.

Case tallied 11 points, six boards and three steals for Centenary, while sophomore point guard Clayton Roker (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) also recorded 11 points.

The Cyclones were limited to 29 percent shooting (18-61) and made just 1-of-15 attempts from beyond the arc, while the Griffins recorded a 42-percent shooting effort (23-55) and held a 51-32 edge on the glass.

Goodman pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked three shots, while Cedric Elleby grabbed a game-high 14 boards.

Centenary closes out its four-game road trip Saturday at Immaculata at 1:00 pm. The Cyclones defeated the Mighty Macs 68-55 in overtime earlier this season.
