Brooklyn Falls to York, 107-93

Jamaica, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team dropped a high scoring affair on Tuesday night, as the Bulldogs dropped a 107-93 decision on the road against the Cardinals of York College in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action.

With the loss, BC falls to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the CUNYAC; while York improves to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Brooklyn was led by junior guard Jai Kellman, who netted a team-high 25 points on 9-for-18 shooting from the field, 2-for-4 from three and 5-for-6 from the line. Kellman also added five assists, three rebounds and three steals to his stat line. Sophomore guard/forward Egzon Gjonbalaj chipped in with 20 points doing most of his damage from beyond the arc, where he went 5-for-10 from downtown. Gjonbalaj also finished with five rebounds, four steals and three blocks.

Junior center Valon Djombalic added 14 points and eight rebounds; while sophomore guard Jamel Gist contributed with 11 points and junior guard Steven Diaz added 10 points going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.

For York, Michael Woods led all scorers with a game-high 40 points on 17-for-28 shooting. Omar St. John contributed with 18 points, while Donald Rodriguez added 15 points. Du'Quan Lawson dished out 10 assists, to go with nine points and Terell Roper grabbed nine rebounds.

The Cardinals held a hot shooting hand throughout the game, shooting 58.8% (40-for-68) from the field to help lead the home team to victory. York also went 8-for-22 (36.4%) from three and 61.3% (19-for-31) from the foul line.

York led the game from the opening tip, running out to an 11-point lead, 21-10, at the 14:50 mark of the first half. Brooklyn would cut its deficit to one, 28-27, with 8:25 remaining before halftime on a layup from Gist. However, that would be as close as the Bulldogs would get, as the Cardinals would rebuild its lead back to double digits to eventually take a 15-point halftime lead, 55-40.

BC would look to cut its deficit and get back into the game and would eventually get it down to eight, 68-60, on a layup from Kellman with 13:16 left in the game; however, the Bulldogs would not get any closer than that, as York would answer with another run to once again lead by double figures. The Cardinals would go on to cruise to its 14-point win.

For the game, the Bulldogs shot 47.2% (34-for-72) from the field and 45.8% (11-for-24) from three. BC also shot 60.9% (14-for-23) from the free throw line.

Brooklyn will look to snap its current three-game losing streak tomorrow, Wednesday, December 11th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Old Westbury, NY to take on the Panthers of the College at Old Westbury.
