Sharp-shooting Tommie men move to 4-1

Junior center Conner Nord had 18 points and eight rebounds as No. 15-ranked St. Thomas took a 78-55 victory at Macalester in Monday's MIAC men's basketball play on the Scots' floor.

The Tommies (4-1 overall, 2-0 MIAC) shot 56 percent from the field and knocked down 23-of-27 free throws as they pushed their season win streak to four and their conference win streak to 12.

They stay one-half game behind 3-0 Gustavus and Bethel near the top of the conference standings.

Zach Riedeman and Marcus Alipate each scored nine points, and Grant Shaeffer and Erik Tengwall each had eight points. Tengwall added seven assists.

Dylan Kilgour had a game-high 19 points for Macalester (2-5, 1-2).



The Toms open their home season Wednesday night against Hamline, a 72-50 home winner on Monday against St. John's.
