Ursinus picks up 66-61 win over Marymount (Va.) in home opener

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's basketball team opened its 2013-14 home schedule with a grind-it-out, blue-collar 66-61 win over Marymount (Va.) on Wednesday night.

Ursinus put three players in double figures, paced by sophomore guards Malik Draper and Trevor Norton who each went for 13 points. Senior forward Ryan Adams scored 12 on 5-for-9 shooting as the Bears collectively shot 47.9 percent from the field.

Marymount, who came into the game 2-0 after winning their own tournament, got a game-high 18 points from senior forward Reed Scott and 15 points from junior guard Antonio Rouse. The Saints trailed by five at halftime (33-28) and got to within one in the second half before the Bears put together a 10-2 run that ended with Ursinus holding a 54-45 lead with 9:10 left.

The Saints put together one last charge, trailing 59-56 with 3:19 left before Norton's three-pointer with 1:57 left put Ursinus up six.

Ursinus held a 33-29 edge on the glass, with Norton collecting eight. Junior guard Trey Harry grabbed seven rebounds.

Freshman guard Hanif Sutton picked up four assists and three steals.

Ursinus heads to Johns Hopkins on Saturday for its conference opener.
