Scranton, Pa. (Dec. 18, 2012) - Sophomore Terrance Bridgers (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) and junior Kahlil Bennett (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) scored 14 points apiece and were named All-Tournament as Alvernia University (6-2) used a 35-5 run to top St. Joe's (L.I.), 83-54 Tuesday afternoon in the PNC Bank Royal Rumble hosted by the University of Scranton.

Bridgers was named Tournament MVP.  It's the second time he earned MVP honors having earned the same trophy at the Red Robin Holiday Tournament last season at DeSales.  The Crusaders have now won nine straight tournament games over the past two years.  They went 2-0 at the Disney Holiday Tournament last year, won the Red Robin Tournament (2-0), won the ECAC South Region Championship (3-0) to cap off the 2011-12 season and today wrapped up the PNC Bank Royal Rumble (2-0) title.

The Crusaders were down 10-9 to St. Joe's on Tuesday seven minutes into the game then held the Eagles to just five points for the rest of the half running of 35 of their own for a 44-15 lead at the break.  Bennett scored nine points for the Crusaders and freshman Charles Cooper (Parkesburg, Pa./Octorara) was instrumental hitting a pair of 3s during a deciding run for the second day in a row.

The outcome was never in doubt during the second half with the Crusaders building the lead as high as 38 points.

The Crusaders hit double-digits 3s for the second straight game going 11-of-26 from the arc.  Cooper and senior Josh Vargas (Allentown, Pa./Faith Christian Academy) both reached double digits with 11 points.  St. Joe's had a pair of players score 13 points apiece.

Alvernia continues an aggressive schedule this week returning home to host Richard Stockton on Thursday.
