Scranton, Pa. – The men's basketball team of St. Joseph's College (2-8) was defeated in the finals of the Scranton Royal Rumble at the hands of the Crusaders of Alvernia University (6-2).
The Eagles struggled scoring in the first half, hitting only 18.8% of their shots. The Crusaders held the Eagles to just 15 first half points. Alvernia ended the first half on a 16-0 run to head into the locker room leading by 29 points.
The second half was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams. However, the Crusaders wouldn't allow St. Joseph's back in to it and led by double-digits the whole time. Keith Anderson (Central Islip, N.Y. / North Babylon) and Evan Mohammed (Bayside, N.Y. / Holy Cross) were the only Eagles in double-figures with 13 points each.
The next game for the Eagles is January 7 at home against the Privateers of Maritime College (0-6, 0-2 Skyline). Last season the Eagles swept the season series with an average winning margin of 19 points each game.
