MEADVILLE, Pa. – Nationally-ranked No. 9 Wooster used a 13-0 run midway through the second half to ignite a stretch that turned a three-point lead into a 20-point cushion as the visiting Fighting Scots raced to an 86-64 victory over the Gators on Wednesday at the David V. Wise Center. Allegheny scorched the nets in the first half, but couldn't keep pace with Wooster during the final 20 minutes of play.

Behind the sensational shooting of junior Ryan Stanko, Allegheny trailed just 44-41 at the break. Stanko scored 19 points during the opening period on 7-of-9 shooting, while the Gators converted at a 58.6% (17-of-29) clip as a team. Wooster was nearly as solid from the floor (56.7%) as the lead changed eight times during the half, and neither team led by more than five.

While Wooster maintained an efficient offensive performance after the re-start, Allegheny struggled to knock down shots. The Gators connected on just 7-of-27 (25.9%) during the second half, including 0-of-10 from three-point range. Stanko's hot hand was silenced by intense defensive coverage, while the rest of Allegheny's hardwood unit was unable to get into rhythm.

After seeing the lead grow to 14, a 5-0 Allegheny run fueled by Stanko and Josh Valentic cut the deficit to 60-51 with 12:30 left in regulation. Over the next four minutes, the Fighting Scots outscored the Gators, 13-0, as the margin swelled past 20. Allegheny pulled within 15 before emptying its bench in the waning moments of the contest.

Stanko finished with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while adding a team-best five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Devone McLeod added 13 points and a team-high four assists, while Bobby Theiss was 3-of-3 from the floor en route to a seven-point night.

Xavier Brown and Josh Claytor each chipped in 16 points to pace a Wooster attack that closed 33-of-59 (55.9%), including 11-of-23 from three-point land (47.8%).
