New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team was edged out by the Maccabees of Yeshiva University by a score of 62-61 on Saturday night at the Max Stern Athletic Center in New York, NY. With the loss, Brooklyn drops to 2-6 overall on the season to close out the 2012 portion of its 2012-2013 schedule, while Yeshiva improves to 7-6 overall on the year.

Following an offensive rebound and a layup from Maurice Holden which put BC up 61-60 with 32 seconds left in the game, the Maccabees answered with a jumper from Benjy Ritholtz with just 11 ticks left on the clock, to put Yeshiva up 62-61. That would be the final score, as the Bulldogs turned the ball over in their final possession with YU's Gil Bash stealing the ball to seal the victory.

Brooklyn controlled the entire first half, as the Bulldogs jumped out to an early 10-point lead, 14-4, at the 14:32 mark of the period. Steven Diaz nailed two three-pointers to key the run, while Kavon Baker and Steven Grant contributed with four points each.

The second half featured a complete role reversal, as the Maccabees would hold the hot shooting hand going 66.7% (18-27) from the field to help erase their first half deficit.

Yeshiva wasted no time in getting back into the game, as the Maccabees scored the first 10 points of the second period to cut their deficit to three, 37-34, with 16:33 left in the game. Yeshiva would continue to cut into its deficit and eventually tie the game at 45-45 at the 10:25 mark of the second half and eventually take its first lead of the game at 47-45 with 9:55 left in the game.

The ballgame would feature a see-saw battle down the stretch with three more ties and eight lead changes, setting up Ritholtz's eventual game-winner.

Brooklyn was led by Baker's team-high 17 points, while Grant added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Diaz finished the night with 12 points, while Jeffrey Noel also contributed with 12 points coming off the bench. Holden dished out a team leading seven assists.

Yeshiva's Shlomo Weissberg recorded a double-double with a game-high 18 points, to go along with a game-high 14 rebounds. Ritholtz finished with 14 points, while Dovie Hoffman chipped in with 13 points. Bash dished out a game-best 15 assists.

Yeshiva shot 51.8% (29-56) from the field to pull out the come-from-behind win and also held a slim 33-30 rebounding advantage.

The Maccabees, ranked first in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (51.2%), was held to just 28.6% (4-14) from three.
