NEW YORK - Junior shooting guard Benjy Ritholtz (W. Hempstead, N.Y.) knocked down a pull-up, 15-foot jumper from the left wing with 8.6 seconds remaining Saturday night at Max Stern Athletic Center, as the Yeshiva University men's basketball team, which trailed by as many as 15 points, captured its third straight victory with a come-from-behind, 62-61 decision over visiting Brooklyn College.

YU (7-6), received an 18-point, 14-rebound effort in the low post by junior Shlomo Weissberg (Skokie, Ill.; 9-for-13 FG), while senior Dovie Hoffman (Tarzana, Calif.) netted 13 points in the victory. The Maccabees continue to move the ball well on offense, as it assisted on 21 of their 29 field goals -- including a career-high 15 helpers from senior Gil Bash (Tel Aviv, Israel).

The Bulldogs (2-6) shot 56 percent in the first half, en route to a 37-24 edge at halftime after ending the frame on a 7-2 run.

From there, Yeshiva came out of the locker room in full force, going on a 23-8 tear to take its first lead of the contest on a layup by freshman Yosef Rosenthal (W. Hempstead, N.Y.) with 9:55 remaining. In all, the second 20-minute period featured nine lead changes and four ties, with the last one coming with 2:17 to go when Hoffman's trifecta from the right-hand corner knotted things up at 58-all.

Brooklyn's Steven Diaz (12 pts.) put his team up one on a free throw with 1:24 remaining, before Ritholtz found Weissberg underneath the hoop for a lay-in, putting the hosts in front 60-59 with 1:06 remaining. The Bulldogs' Maurice Holden (team-best seven assists) converted a layup with 32 seconds to go, giving his side a 61-60 edge.

After the Maccabees were fouled with under 27 seconds remaining, long-time head coach Dr. Jonathan Halpert called time out to set up a play for his side. Ritholtz got the ball around the 3-point arc on the left wing, and dribbled to within 15 feet, burying the eventual game-winning jumper with 8.6 seconds left. Brooklyn elected to run a play in transition, before Bash came away with the game-saving steal on the right sideline to seal the victory for the hosts.

Yeshiva shot .667 (18-for-27) in the second half, en route to a .518 mark (29-for-56) on the evening. The hosts also owned a 33-30 rebounding edge, marking the eighth time in their last 10 outings where they have controlled the glass.

Four players scored in double figures for Brooklyn, with Kavon Baker leading his side with 17 markers. Steven Grant added 13, while reserve Jeffrey Noel joined Diaz with 12 points on the night.

YU is now off until Jan. 22, when it picks back up with its Skyline Conference schedule, playing host to Farmingdale State College in an 8 p.m. tip-off at Max Stern Athletic Center.
