Goldstein scored a career-high 19 points and the Baruch
College Bearcats never trailed in the contest to record a 68-50
victory over the Lightning of Lehman College on Friday night.
With the result, the visiting Bearcats improve their CUNYAC record
to 5-4 and 11-11 overall on the regular season. The Lightning, who
were playing their home game tonight at John Jay College, drop to
6-4 in CUNYAC and 10-12 overall.
The Bearcats connected on 8-of-19 from 3-point range and 12-of-13
from the free throw line to record their third victory in the last
four games. They also won the battle of the boards with a 42-32
rebounding advantage.
The two teams were tied (26-26) at halftime, but the Bearcats
broke open the contest by beginning the second half with a 14-6 run
to take a 40-32 lead with 12:10 left. They continued their momentum
down the stretch and led by as much as 19 points before closing out
the 68-50 victory.
Goldstein finished shooting 6-of-8 from the field and 5-of-6 from
3-point range to record his career-high with 19 points. Chris
Beauchamp scored 14 points, five rebounds and three
assists. Granville
Gittens almost recorded a double-double with eight points
and rebounds each.
Mathias Raggiotto led the Lightning with 15 points and six
rebounds.
Baruch will return home to play their next three regular season games in the friendly confines of the ARC Arena. They will begin their home stand on Monday, February 6, with a 7:30 pm CUNYAC home contest against CCNY.
