Colby goes overtime to defeat UMF, 66-63

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Eric Beaulieu (Concord, Mass.) finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Colby College men's basketball team took a 66-63 win over University of Maine at Farmington on Tuesday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
 
Beaulieu was 7-for-11 from the field and added three assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.
 
Colby moves to 6-11 overall, while UMF fell to 9-7.
 
Ben Foreman (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished with 11 points and six assists for the Mules. Kyle Donovan (Portland, Maine) added 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while Shane Rogers (Newburgh, N.Y.) chipped in eight points, seven rebounds, four assists (no turnovers), and two steals. Nick Rimsa (Andover, Conn.) came off the bench with six points and three rebounds in limited minutes.
 
Kevin Leary (Manchester, Maine) had 19 points, including five 3-point shots, and dished three assists for UMF. Pet Sumner (Cramerton, N.C.) had 16 points and four assists, while Yusuf Iman (Auburn, Maine) had 15 points and six rebounds.
 
Colby trailed 56-54 when Connor O'Neil (Freeport, Maine)  hit a baseline jumper with 1:45 to play in regulation. UMF went ahead again when Nate Carson (Orrington, Maine) nailed a pair of free throws with 1:10 to play. Beaulieu, though, came up big when he scored inside off a nice feed from O'Neil with just 16 seconds to play. UMF took an early shot with about nine seconds to play, but did not pay for it after the Mules turned the ball over.
 
Colby jumped out to a 65-60 lead when O'Neil hit a bucket with 53 seconds to play in overtime. Sumner nailed a 3-point shot with 47 seconds left and the Mules lead was down to 65-63. Foreman hit one of his two free throws with 16 seconds to play for a 66-63 margin. UMF missed two 3-point shots in the final nine seconds.
