Falcons Win Fifth Straight at Macalester

The Falcon men's basketball team won its fifth straight game with a 77-58 win at Maceslter on Thursday night.

Ollie White (Minnetrista, MN, Mound-Westonka HS) scored a career-high 18 points to help UWRF to the win. He was 8-9 from the field, including 1-1 from behind the arc.

White was one of four Falcons who scored in double figures. Shane Manor (Altoona, WI, UW-Superior) scored 12 points, had six rebounds, five assists and two steals in a well rounded effort. Arik Smith (Bakersfield, CA, Bakersfield HS) came off thebench to score a career-high 11 points. He was 4-7 from the field, including 3-5 from three-point range. Aaron Anderson (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater HS) added 10 points to round out the players who scored in double figures.

The Falcons dominated the boards finishing with a 42-29 advantage. Wade Guerin (Bloomington, MN, St. Croix Lutheran HS), who scored seven points, led UWRF with 10 rebounds. He also had three assists and a steal.

The Falcons held a 39-29 lead at the half. With the Scots leading, 6-4, about three minutes into the contest, the Falcons went on an 18-0 run to take control of the game. Macalester stayed in the gameand cut the Falcon lead to seven (36-29) with 1:10 to play in the half. But the Falcons scored the last three points of the half to take the 10-point lead into the locker room.

In the second half the Falcons had a double-digit lead for about 17 minutes. The biggest lead was 23 (77-54) with 1:46 to play. Zach Peterson (Circle Pines, MN, Centennial HS) scored on a layup to give the Falcons their biggest lead.

"it was good to be back playing after the break," said Falcon Coach Jeff Berkhof after the game. "We had solid contributions from a number of players and that was good to see."

Macalester, now 0-9, was led by Pierce Peters who scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Justin Wasik added 12 points.

With the win the Falcons improved to 9-2 this year and improve to 5-2 in road games.

The Falcons play a non-conference game at Sioux Falls on Saturday. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
