Mark Hanson picked up his 500th career win when Gustavus Adolphus rolled over Macalester 87-50. He becomes the 16th active coach in Division III men's basketball to reach that mark.

Hanson was his usual understated self when asked about the achievement.

"This means I’ve been coaching a long time, and I’ve had some outstanding young men who have won a lot of games."

There was nothing understated about the Gusties' victory on Wednesday night. Gustavus led wire-to-wire and used a 13-5 run that spanned the end of the first half and the beginning of the second to take a 53-37 lead on the Scots. Gustavus held Macalester to 20 percent shooting in the second half and just five points over the game's final 12:07 minutes.

Nolan Malo led Gustavus with 23 points and CJ Woda added 14 points and six rebounds for Gustavus (3-4, 1-1 MIAC).

Hanson has a career record of 500-267 in 28-plus seasons at Gustavus. The Gusties best season under Hanson to date was 2003 when they finished as national runners-up with a 26-7 record.
