After 10 years working under two prominent Division III coaches in New England, Tyler Papadinis will have a chance to run his own program further south.
Rhodes College Executive Director of Athletics Portia Hoeg announced Papadinis as the Lynx's new head men's basketball coach effective Aug. 15.
"Coach Papadinis was able to distinguish himself among a very talented pool of candidates," said Hoeg in the College's release. "His experience at two very diverse institutions will allow him to hit the ground running as we recruit a talent rich Memphis area while maintaining our national recruiting ties."
Papadinis spent the last three seasons as the associate head coach to Larry Anderson at MIT. The Engineers went 66-20 during Papadinis' tenure and Rhodes' release credits him with recruiting Bradley Jomard and Hamilton Forsythe who won the Conference Rookie of the Year Awards in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
Before that Papadinis was on Charlie Titus' staff at Mass-Boston for seven years, including serving as the Beacons' associate head coach in 2014-15. Papadinis was the Beacons' recruiting coordinator and is credited for landing 2012 D3hoops.com Northeast Rookie of the Year Vinny DeLucia.
"Charlie Titus and Larry Anderson are not only great coaches but more importantly are caring leaders whose guidance and support have nurtured hundreds of student athletes in their collective careers," said Papadinis in Rhodes' release. "I'm thrilled to join their 'coaching trees' and continue the tradition of positively impacting young people's lives."
Papadinis earned his bachelor's degree from Ithaca College in 2007 and his MBA from Mass-Boston in 2012.
He replaces Mike DeGeorge who left Rhodes in May to become the head coach at Division II Colorado Mesa University.
The Lynx finished 13-13, 7-7 in the SAA last season.
