Capital head coach Dixie Jeffers became the second active Division III women's basketball coach and fifth all time to win 700 games as her Crusaders downed Heidelberg. Elsewhere Wartburg dominated Luther and the two ranked OAC teams narrowly avoided upsets.

Capital used a 9-1 run early in the fourth quarter to pull away from Heidelberg for a 69-53 victory that gave Jeffers her 700th career win. After winning 52 games in three seasons at the NAIA member University of Rio Grande, Jeffers has won 648 in 31-plus seasons at Capital. That includes back-to-back national championships in 1994 and 1995. Jeffers is second among active Division III coaches behind Emmanuel's Andy Yosinoff who has 793 wins. The only other Division III coaches with at least 700 wins are Scranton's Michael Strong (815), St. John Fisher's Phil Kahler (757) and former Washington U. coach Nancy Fahey (746 including nine this season at Division I Illinois).

No. 10 Ohio Northern needed overtime to shake Baldwin Wallace 61-55 and stay unbeaten in conference. After Kasey Hughes' three-pointer gave Baldwin Wallace a 52-50 lead with 90 seconds to play in regulation, Amy Bullimore scored for Ohio Northern to send the game to overtime. The Polar Bears held Baldwin Wallace scoreless in the extra period until Hughes hit a three with one second remaining. Bullimore finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds for Ohio Northern (13-1, 7-0). No. 22 Marietta won a back-and-forth battle at home over Mount Union 74-72 and stayed one game behind ONU in the OAC standings. After the Pioneers built a seven-point lead late in the fourth quarter, the Purple Raiders cut the deficit to two points with 1:10 to play. Mount Union had three chances to tie the game or take the lead, but had an offensive foul, a turnover and a missed layup on its final possessions.

The premier matchup of the night turned out to be no contest as No. 2 Wartburg rolled over Luther, 85-65. All-American Claire Marburger scored 27 points for the Norse, but Wartburg had five players reach double figures, including a 12-point, 12-rebound performance by Aryn Jones.

No. 15 UW-Whitewater put Saturday's loss behind them with a solid all-around performance in an 86-61 win over UW-Eau Claire. Whitewater made 11 three-pointers, forced 20 Eau Claire turnovers and outrebounded the Blugolds by 12. No. 14 UW-Oshkosh picked up its first conference win with relative easy in a 67-47 victory over UW-Stout.

Waynesburg led No. 5 Thomas More 16-15 at the end of one quarter, and then the Saints outscored the Comets 28-6 in the second period to blow the game open. Thomas More went on to win 89-63 behind 22 points from Abby Owings. No. 18 Scranton held Susquehanna to 16 first half points and scratched past the River Hawks 49-43.

Outside the Top 25, Manhattanville picked up its 10th consecutive win and improved to 2-0 in conference by beating DeSales 60-53. Nancy Caballero tallied 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Valiants (11-1, 2-0). Mass-Boston overcame a slow start and beat Plymouth State 77-54 for the Beacons' 12th win in a row. New Jersey City returned to the court for the first time since the Gothic Knights' coaching staff was suspended for its part in two fights during and after the team's game with York (N.Y.). Stockton hammered New Jersey City 102-31 to give Ospreys' coach Joe Fussner the 400th win of his career.
