The Maroons now have a winning streak to match their ranking. No. 12 Chicago defeated No. 17 New York University 69-58 on Friday night for its 12th straight victory.

After NYU scored the first four points of the game, Chicago scored 21 of the next 23 and carried that double-digit lead into the second half. The Violets pulled within four at 49-45 on a Joe Timmes three-pointer, but the Maroons scored the next six points and held NYU at bay the rest of the way. Jordan Smith scored 15 points for Chicago (13-2, 4-0).

In other UAA action, Emory had four players score double figures and the Eagles defeated Carnegie Mellon 75-61. Davis Rao had 18 points and three assists for Emory (10-5, 3-1), which sits a game back of Chicago in the standings.

No. 8 Amherst turned a nine-point halftime deficit into a 14-point win at Bowdoin, 92-78. The Lord Jeffs shot 56 percent and outrebounded the Polar Bears 27-8 in the second half. Connor Green scored 27 for Amherst (14-2, 4-0). Lucas Hausman scored 32 points to lead Bowdoin (8-6, 1-3). Trinity (Conn.) held off Colby 62-60 to keep pace with Amherst. The Bantams stay in Maine to play Bowdoin tomorrow afternoon.

Wesleyan capped a very successful week with a last-minute victory over No. 19 Tufts, 78-77. After hammering Amherst 71-44 on Monday, the Cardinals beat the NESCAC's other ranked team on a Joseph Kuo layup with 27 seconds left. The Cardinals are three games back in the abbreviated NESCAC conference race but 13-4 overall.

No. 23 Texas Lutheran held off Colorado College 81-79 despite not making a field goal in the final 3:31 of its home game. No. 20 Lancaster Bible rolled over Wells 86-59 to push its record to 14-0. CJ Dunston tallied 25 points and nine rebounds for the Chargers.

Hartwick gave St. John Fisher its first conference loss and bumped the Cardinals out of first place in the Empire 8. Trevor Norton paced the Hawks with 24 points and a near perfect showing from the free throw line (12-for-13). Nazareth also passed rival St. John Fisher in the standings with an 84-74 win at Stevens.

The MAC Freedom Conference moved its first place showdown between Delaware Valley and DeSales up to Friday night to beat the snowstorm and the game ended up being no contest. Delaware Valley scored the first 12 points of the second half and opened a 20-point lead en route to a 75-47 win. The teams will meet again in Center Valley in two weeks.

Women's recap: Violets bounce back in the Windy City

Sydney Moss has scored 40 points on four separate occasions, all of them against Waynesburg.

Coming off a home loss to No. 7 Rochester on Sunday, New York University posted an impressive 71-55 win at Chicago. The ninth-ranked Violets seized control by outscoring the Maroons 24-7 in the second quarter. Kaitlyn Read had 20 points and 12 rebounds for NYU, which has another tough game this Sunday when it travels to No. 8 Washington U. The Bears fended off Brandeis 65-59 tonight.

Emory picked up its first conference win and pushed No. 20 Carnegie Mellon two games back of the UAA leaders, 63-52. Lisa Murphy posted 23 points and 15 rebounds for the Tartans (13-2, 2-2) who go to Rochester on Sunday.

No. 2 Amherst dominated another quality opponent, this time crunching Bowdoin 78-48. The Lord Jeffs jumped on top 24-9 after the first quarter and expanded their lead each one after that. Ali Doswell scored 19 points, including four 3-pointers, and Marley Giddens notched a double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds). Amherst has won seven of its last nine by at least 20 points, including four lopsided wins over 2015 NCAA tournament teams.

Sydney Moss returned to her favorite gym away from home and scored 41 points in top-ranked Thomas More's 119-80 victory at Waynesburg. Moss has averaged 41 points in four games at Waynesburg's Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. 

Samantha Lisikatos' late free throw was the difference in Oneonta State's 54-53 win over Buffalo State. Oneonta hosts Fredonia State (12-4, 7-2) and travels to Cortland State (10-3, 5-1) next week. Delaware Valley snapped DeSales eight-game win streak with a 75-71 victory at home. Eireann Anastasi scored a career-high 30 points for the Aggies whose win over first place DeSales could be a helpful tie breaker in the tight conference playoff race.
