No. 3 George Fox built a double-digit lead over No. 24 Whitman midway through the first half and held off the Missionaries, 66-50.

After Whitman took an early lead, the Bruins went on a 13-1 run to go in front for good. George Fox hit nine 3-pointers, including three during that critical stretch, while Whitman shot just 1-for-11 from three. Kim Frost had 17 points and Justine Benner added 16 for George Fox (14-1, 5-0 NWC). The teams will play again in Walla Walla in February.
On Sunday the four ranked teams in the UAA will play each other. Tonight they beat their unranked opponents with varying degrees of difficulty.
No. 4 NYU survived a rough shooting night and pushed past Emory, 48-45. The Violets shot 29 percent from the floor and committed 23 turnovers, but they outrebouned the Eagles by 25. No. 21 Carnegie Mellon made enough free throws down the stretch to hold off Chicago, 83-80. The Tartans made 21 of 26 free throw attempts, including a perfect night for Jackie Hudepohl as part of her 25 points.
No. 10 Rochester handled Brandeis 63-40 while Washington took care of Case Western 64-55. No. 22 Williams shot 50 percent from the field, but it still wasn't enough as Colby defeated the Ephs 69-63 behind Carylanne Wolfington's 20 points. Colby made 19 of 26 free throws while Williams was 1-for-6.
There weren't a lot of shots made but there were a lot taken in Covenant's 75-71 triple overtime win over William Peace. The Scots shot 28 for 91 and the Pacers shot 29 of 80. Covenant piled up 72 rebounds. The single game team record for Division III women's basketball is 96. Box score
CCNY ended a 13-year losing streak against perennial CUNYAC title winner Baruch, 59-56. Oneonta State beat New Paltz State 63-53 and stayed a half-game in front of Cortland State in the SUNYAC standindgs. Lyteshia Price scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Oneonta.

One undefeated team lost on Friday night and another barely escaped.
Top-ranked Whitworth nearly had its unbeaten record spoiled by four-win Willamette before escaping in overtime, 81-77. Willamette had the ball and a 69-67 lead with 41 seconds left but Whitworth's Christian Jurlina got the steal and found Kenny Love who was fouled with 35 seconds left. Love made both free throws and each team missed a potential game winning three before the end of regulation.
The Pirates scored the first five points in overtime and, while Willamette pulled with two points twice, Whitworth made enough free throws to escape a major upset. Along with the critical steal at the end of regulation, Jurlina finished with 21 points and nine rebounds for Whitworth (14-0, 5-0 NWC). Brandon Luedtke tallied 13 points and 15 rebounds for Willamette (4-10, 1-4 NWC). Box score
No. 15 New York University was not as fortunate. Emory dealt the Violets their first loss of the season, 71-64.
With Emory leading 21-20, Adam Gigax and Will Trawick hit back-to-back threes to give the Eagles some additional breathing room. Jonathan Terry added a layup to finish Emory's run and the Eagles led by at least two possessions the rest of the way. Trawick finished with 21 points and eight rebounds for Emory (9-4, 2-0 UAA). Evan Kupferberg posted 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Violets (11-1, 1-1 UAA). Box score
Middlebury pushed its conference and overall record above .500 with an 85-82 overtime win over No. 22 Tufts. Vincent Pace had another big night for Tufts, scoring 22 points including the game-tying three in the final minute of regulation. Matt St. Amour scored eight straight points for the Panthers in overtime, giving him 17 for the game and ending the Jumbos' eight-game win streak. Box score
St. Scholastica won at Northwestern (Minn.) 81-74 to earn a share of first place in the UMAC. The Saints' reserves outscored the Eagles' reserves 41-10, including 19 points for Andrew Laughlin. St. Scholastica is tied for first with North Central (Minn.) which beat UW-Superior 84-71.
