Men's wrap: Cabrini's streak ends

With Aaron Walton-Moss playing 29 minutes and scoring 21 points, Baptist Bible torched the No. 2 Cavaliers to the tune of 106 points and 57 percent shooting in knocking off Cabrini 106-97.

The Defenders picked up just their eighth win of the season against 15 defeats. Cabrini fell to 20-1. Abe Valentine led the way with a career-high 36 points for the Defenders as he shot 11-for-16 from the floor, 6-for-9 from 3-point range. Vinny Walls led Cabrini with 29 points.

Sixth-ranked St. Norbert held Grinnell to its second-lowest output of the season, winning 113-88. Kam Cerroni scored a game-high 27 points and Andrew Schworer came off the bench to add 23 points for the Green Knights (20-1, 16-0 Midwest Conference), as St. Norbert shot 63 percent from the floor and 5-for-10 from 3-point range in the win.

UW-River Falls went on a 10-0 run late in the second half, but didn't score again as top-ranked UW-Stevens Point avoided the upset by defeating the Falcons 54-50. 

All five starters scored in double figures as No. 10 Wesley won at No. 13 Mary Washington 91-75. Center David Langan scored a game-high 33 points, adding a game-high 11 rebounds. The Wolverines are 20-2, 12-2 in the Capital Athletic Conference to remain in first place, a game and a half ahead of the Eagles.

Behind 19 points from Xavier Brown and 11 from Scott Purcell, No. 9 Wooster topped No. 15 Wittenberg as the Scots won the battle of archrivals 60-55. 

No. 11 St. Thomas won a share of the MIAC regular-season title for the ninth consecutive season, as Conner Nord scored 21 points in the Tommies' 81-67 win at Concordia-Moorhead. St. Thomas won its eighth game in a row to improve to 20-3.

Stephen Haladyna scored a game-high 23 points on 8-for-11 shooting to lead Tufts to a 66-62 win vs. Bowdoin. It's just the third loss of the season for the No. 24 Polar Bears, while the win puts Tufts over .500, at 12-11. 

Rose-Hulman coach Jim Shaw won his 300th career game as the Fightin' Engineers rallied to defeat Bluffton 61-55. RHIT had to rally from an 18-point halftime deficit to do so, and Julian Strickland scored 19 of his 27 points in the second half to make it possible.

Justin Klingman was 7-for-8 from 3-point range to give Scranton sole possession of first place in an 80-71 win at Catholic. Steve Limberiou has missed the last four games for the Cardinals, who are 2-2 in his absence. Scranton improved to 19-3, 9-2 in the Landmark Conference.

Even after the inside of the gym got a makeover this past offseason, Wheaton's struggles at North Central continued as the Thunder lost at the Cardinals 71-66. North Central shot 65 percent from the floor in the win. Wheaton fell to 10-3 in the CCIW.

D.J. Woodmore scored 21 of his 28 points in the second half but it wasn't enough as Roanoke knocked off the Marlins 84-79. All three ODAC teams in the regional rankings have lost in the past week. No. 21 Randolph-Macon used a pair of 15-0 runs to get past Emory and Henry 65-39. Guilford fell as well, as Bridgewater (Va.) defeated the Quakers 71-62.

St. John Fisher scored a season-high 105 points to extend its winning streak to five games after a 22-point road win at Alfred. The Cardinals close out the regular season at 16-9, 9-5 in the Empire 8, needing help to get into the four-team E8 tournament.

Mary Hardin-Baylor jumped out to a 10-2 lead to open the game and rolled past UT-Tyler 84-63 for its fifth consecutive win. The Cru, who played in last year's title game, are 15-8, 13-7 in the American Southwest Conference.

New Jersey City used a 33-2 run in the second half to overcome its first-half effort of 18.4 percent shooting and routed TCNJ, 66-53, to clinch an NJAC tournament berth, joining Richard Stockton, Rutgers-Newark and William Paterson with two spots still up for grabs. 

Penn State-Abington outlasted Gallaudet, needing four overtimes to defeat the Bison 94-84. Max Alton scored 22 for the Nittany Lions, eight of them in the fourth overtime, where they outscored the Bison 16-6. Gallaudet played just seven players, three of them for 55 minutes or more.
