Sophomore guard Jessica Lairson scored a game-high tying 18 points as Baldwin-Wallace defeated No. 12 Denison 54-53 on Friday night in women's basketball in Manchester's tournament.

It's Denison's first regular season loss since Feb. 10, 2010. Last year, Denison started 28-0 before losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Baldwin-Wallace improves to 2-0.

No. 13 Mount Union scored the last six points of the game to slip past Case Western Reserve 55-49. Rosa LaMattina scored four of the final six and finished with a team-high 12 points. No. 17 Illinois Wesleyan had five scorers in double figures to get past Coe 77-66. Capital knocked off No. 19 Hope 62-53.

Christopher Newport won its first game after the Chelsie Schweers era, rolling past Randolph-Macon 74-48. Nicole Mitchell scored 19 points, while Andrea Hobbs added 14 off the bench. Jessica Duleba scored 19 points and Sheridan Taylor came off the bench to score 16 points to lead Baruch to a 79-73 victory over Wittenberg at Rochester's tournament. Baruch faces the hosts next.

Catholic went on a 14-5 run to open the second half and got past Richard Stockton 63-58 in McDaniel's tournament. McDaniel defeated Hollins to advance.
