    Trailing 62-60 with 2.6 seconds left on the clock, the Utica College men's basketball team traveled the length of the court and Avery Coston connected on the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to lift the Pioneers to a thrilling 63-62 victory over Stevens in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament on Friday night at Nazareth College. Utica advances to the E8 finals for the first time since 2007 and will take on top-seeded and host Nazareth on Saturday at 4 p.m.
  • OT Win Delivers Empire 8 Tournament Berth for Utica

    The Utica College men's basketball team defeated Stevens, 75-71, in overtime on Saturday at home. Ivan Iton (Ossining, NY/Ossining)'s 29 points, 11 rebounds, and eight blocks led the way, as UC secured the No. 3 seed in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament.

    The Utica College men's basketball team beat Sage at home on Tuesday, 79-75. This marks the third win in a row for the Pioneers, as they improve to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

    The Utica College men's basketball team led by as many as 16 points early in the second half and held on to earn a 66-63 victory over visiting Oswego State Saturday night in the championship game of the Utica College Basketball Classic at the Clark Athletic Center.
  • Utica Secures No. 3 Seed in Empire 8 Tournament

    The Utica College men's basketball team punched its ticket into the Empire 8 Conference Tournament for the first time since 2012-13 on Saturday as the Pioneers won their regular season finale against visiting Elmira College, 70-36. The Pioneers held the lead for the entire game, earned their largest margin of victory all season (34 points), and also won their fourth straight contest. The team's record now stands at 10-15 overall and 10-6 in conference play.
  • Iton's Buzzer-Beater Lifts Utica Past Ithaca

    Utica College's Ivan Iton (Ossining, NY/Ossining) grabbed an offensive rebound with one second on the clock and then made the game winning layup as time expired to defeat Ithaca College, 75-74, in Empire 8 Conference action on Tuesday night at the Clark Athletic Center. The Pioneers have now won nine games in Empire 8 play for the first time since the 2008-09 season and remain in the hunt for a berth into the Empire 8 Conference Tournament for the first time since 2013.
  • Utica welcomes Coffey as head men's basketball coach

    Utica athletic director David Fontaine formally announced the hiring of Sean Coffey as men's basketball head coach. Coffey, who is the seventh coach in program history (NCAA era), most recently spent five seasons on the sidelines as a full-time assistant coach at St. John Fisher.
  • Tutein's Buzzer Beater Lands Utica on SportsCenter Top 10!

    With one second remaining on the game clock Utica College's Mike Cannizzo (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) hurled an overhand pass across center court to senior Robert Tutein (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet), who collected the pass and converted on an acrobatic 3-pointer with a defender in his face to lift UC to a 75-74 buzzer beater victory over host Elmira College in Empire 8 Conference action on Friday night. A replay of the incredible game-winner aired nationally on ESPN as a trio of great basketball buzzer beaters and aired again on the highly popular Sports Center Top Ten segments on the 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. shows Friday night and early Saturday morning.
  • Sharp Shooting Leads Utica Past W&J

    The Utica College men's basketball team jumped out to a 27-16 lead in the first 10:47 of the game and never looked back as the Pioneers went on to defeat Washington & Jefferson 78-60 in the opening game of the Woodcliff Tournament hosted by St. John Fisher College on Monday afternoon. The Pioneers (3-5), who snapped a three game losing streak with the win, will play SUNY Old Westbury tomorrow at 1 p.m.

    The Utica College men's basketball team lost to Empire 8 rival Nazareth College 98-82 Friday night at the Clark Athletic Center. Junior point guard Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) netted a team-best 22 points and added five assists, while Agim Hamiti (Prishtina, Kosovo/Syracuse Academy of Science) added a career-high 16 points for the Pioneers.
  • Utica Men's Basketball Tops Houghton

    The Utica College men's basketball team snapped a seven game slide Tuesday night as the Pioneers topped host Houghton College, 80-71. Five different players scored at least nine points for UC, including a team-best 16 point, eight rebound effort from Marion Lewis (Bronx, NY/Lehman). Junior sharp shooter Ian Henderson (Chateaugay, NY/Chateaugay) added 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting from 3-point territory for the Pioneers.

    The Utica College men's basketball team lost to visiting St. John Fisher College 92-69 in Empire 8 Conference action at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium Tuesday night. Chris Jeffers (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn) and freshman Agim Hamiti (Prishtina, Kosovo/Syracuse Academy of Science) each netted 13 points for the Pioneers, while Marion Lewis (Bronx, NY/Lehman) added ten points off the bench.

    Alfred University's Ryan Mahon drilled the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to lift the Saxons to a 96-93 victory over host Utica College in Empire 8 Conference action at the Clark Athletic Center on Friday night. Utica's Marion Lewis (Bronx, NY/Lehman) netted a career-high 31 points to pace the Pioneers.

    The Utica College men's basketball team will head into its semester hiatus having won two of its last three games after topping visiting Union College 78-74 in non conference action at the Clark Athletic Center Saturday. Utica, which snapped a three game slide in the all-time series against the Dutchmen, improved to 4-3 overall on the year. Union dropped to 2-5 overall.
  • Nevins Nets Career-High 32 As Utica Defeats Canton

    Junior point guard Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) netted a career-high 32 points as the Utica College men's basketball team topped visiting SUNY Canton 103-86 in its home opener on the hardwood at the Clark Athletic Center on Wednesday evening. Junior forward Marion Lewis (Bronx, NY/Lehman) finished the day with 23 points (six points shy of his career-high) as the Pioneers improved to 3-3 overall and scored over 100 points in regulation for the first time since November 17, 2006.
  • Utica Men's Basketball Tops St. Lawrence in Season Opener

    The Utica College men's basketball will move onto Saturday's championship game of the Hilbert College Tip-Off Tournament after defeating St. Lawrence 82-81 in an opening round match up on Friday night. UC's Chris Jeffers (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn) led the way for the Pioneers 14 points and 12 rebounds, while point guard Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) added 17 points and seven assists.

    With the scored tied at 66-66 and 3.8 seconds remaining on the clock, UC junior Connor Maisch (Kingston, NY/John A. Coleman) took the inbounds pass in the corner, stepped back, and nailed the game-winning 3-pointer to lift Utica College to a huge 69-66 men's basketball victory over host Ithaca College on Friday night in Empire 8 Conference action at Ben Light Gymnasium.

    The Utica College men's basketball team shot 75% from the floor in the first half, and made 8-of-10 3-pointers, to take an insurmountable 56-27 halftime lead over visiting Hartwick College Tuesday night. The Pioneers hung on for the win in the second half and closed out the regular season sweep of the Hawks after a 90-77 victory on the hardwood at the Clark Athletic Center.
