    ITHACA, N.Y. - Graduate student Dom Black scored 14 points with nine rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and three blocked shots - all team-highs - and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team allowed only 44 points in defeating Ithaca College 49-44 in the Liberty League Tournament Semifinals at Ben Light Gymnasium.

The victory was the 18th straight for the Engineers, which tied the school record originally established in 1990-91.

    TROY, N.Y. - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton has announced the appointment of Mark Gilbride to the position of head men's basketball coach. Gilbride joins the Rensselaer staff from Clarkson University, where he has served as the head men's basketball coach for the past five years. He replaces Mike Griffin, who retired from RPI after 30 years of leading the program.
